BERGEDORF "When you think of vaccines, do you think of Biontec or Astra Zeneca? When you think of viruses, do you think of corona?" asks Dr. med. "We do too, but not only!" At the Gynäkologikum-Bergedorf, girls and young women up to the age of 18 can be vaccinated with the aim of keeping the cervix healthy. "Incidentally, the vaccination is also recommended for boys, which is not widely known among the population," adds the doctor. Up to the 15th birthday, two vaccinations are given at 6-month intervals. For older patients, three vaccinations are necessary, as the immune system is already reacting less well.
In January 2021 Dr. Annette Klöpper and Annette Marschall received an award from Focus magazine, partly because of the girls' consultation. The young women can get to know the doctor and the examination situation and receive information on vaccination in accordance with the guidelines of the specialist associations. "One of our specialists has just returned from parental leave," says Dr. Klöpper happily. "This means we can welcome new patients in March with open arms - but of course while observing the hygiene and social distancing rules. "Everyone in the practice wears a medical or FFP2 mask. All team members undergo a coronavirus test twice a week. "And soon everyone will have received their first vaccination against the coronavirus," explains Dr. Klöpper. The practice staff want to protect not only themselves, but also their families and patients. (wb)
